EU Deforestation Regulation: What UK Exporters Need to Know

13/10/26, 12:00

UK exporters of certain wood, rubber, coffee, cocoa and other affected products may need to provide additional traceability information to their EU customers from 30 December 2026.

From 30 December 2026, the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) will affect certain products imported into the EU, including wood, furniture, rubber, coffee, cocoa, soya, palm oil and cattle-derived goods. Whether the EUDR applies will depend on the product’s commodity code.

For affected goods, the EU importer will normally be responsible for carrying out the required due diligence and obtaining a Due Diligence Statement (DDS) reference number. The DDS reference will then be required for the EU customs declaration.

Although the EU importer generally submits the DDS, UK exporters may need to provide essential EUDR information. This could include the country of production, producer or supplier details, production dates, evidence of legal production and geolocation data showing where the relevant commodity was grown, harvested or raised.

Without the necessary EUDR information, the EU importer may be unable to complete the DDS or proceed with the import. UK exporters should therefore check whether their goods fall within the scope of the EUDR and ensure the required supply-chain information is available before shipping.

Red Kite Customs Clearance Ltd can help UK exporters identify whether their goods may be affected by the EUDR and ensure that the correct DDS reference number is included in the EU customs declaration.
